Rentz's Tap & Dining

Being from out of town we asked a few people and were directed to try Rentz's. The food was cooked to order.We visited on a Wednesday night and chose the steak and twice baked potato I think the cost was around $20 it was very good. My personal opinion is this is a no frills good Hometown place with a lot of history there were families with kids everyone was cheerful and happy so I would call it kid and family-friendly at the time we visited. The place was split into two sections the bar area and a dining area for those who choose to be away from the bar it would be perfect for some families. There was no shortage of trophies and pictures to look at while our food was being prepared. There were gaming machines eager to take any money that you wish to deposit with hopes of winning your retirement. Thank you for reading my personal opinion I would return to this place if we were to pass through the area again I like to go to family-owned non corporate places whenever possible. And remember my personal opinion is worth as much as you paid for it.

It's an old bar with the restaurant attached to it. They are well known for their twice-baked potatoes and fried chicken. A great place to eat if you like that bar atmosphere.

Great family place. Friendly staff. All steaks are amazing! Highly recommended steak or shrimp combo. DON'T get the chicken with wine sauce. It tastes like they just poured wine on chicken... Not good.

Excellent service and food! Great special's plus all the prices on the menu are nice. Good size portions on everything I've ever had there. The fried chicken and any of the fish is super good! Nice little small town bar/restaurant. Worth the trip if in the area. Not far from Interstate 55 either. You'll be glad you stopped for meal.

We like to order the House Special steaks for takeout. They are done in a timely fashion, and the restaurant is close. Adding actual bleu cheese crumbles to the salads is a phenomenal idea. Also, the barkeeps are great at being fast while attending to a busy crowd. The last two times we've ordered out, though, there were some issues. First, no dressing with either salad. Second, a baked potato with everything came as just a baked potato. Third, the steaks were cooked medium instead of medium rare. Please don't forget the toppings for takeout orders!

The food was very good. Fresh ingredients and great flavors. Beer on tap was a special blueberry one and they cared enough to toss a few in for flavor. Nice value for the quality and portions. The staff clearly caters to locals. They were competent, however wouldn't hurt (their tips as well) to have a little smile, energy or interest in the menu and or patrons.

Best steaks and pork chops in central IL hands down. We come here frequently because of the great food and familiar faces. Always treated like family! Love the atmosphere. Take this place any day over a high end fancy steak house
